Putting on the melody

It was the first day of the three-day Jayanti Sangeet Samaroh organised by Bhatkande Sangeet Mahavidyala which captivated Lucknowites throughout the evening.
The show included many performances of the former and present students of the institution. The program started with the Chief Guest Vinod Melhotra, President Tax Committee of UP, lighting the lamps.
Under the direction of Dr Srishti Mathur ��� Shikha, Richa, Ranjana, Shweta, Lovely, Layotama, Shivani, Shubha and Swati sang a few classical bandish.Accompanying them on the harmonium was Maheshwar Dayal Nagar, Vinod Kumar Mishra on the sarangi and Arun Kumar Talukedar and Saurabh Singh on the tabla.
Padmashree Geeta Chandran paid a tribute to her alma mater by giving a fabulous performance of Bharatnatyam. Performing various styles of Bharatnatyam, Geeta Chandran had the whole hall giving her stupendous applause.
Then it was Subhankar Bannerjee whose tabla performance had the auditorium resounding with the beats of the tabla. The deftness of his fingers moving on the instrument was too good to be missed.
All the performances were appreciated by the people present, which is surely the greatest respect that any artist can get.
